Nigeria to Boost Telecom and Tourism in Riverine Areas

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a strategy to enhance telecommunications and tourism in riverine communities across the country. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, stated that all riverine communities would be connected to telecommunications networks by mid-2027.

This initiative includes the installation of 3,700 telecommunications facilities, starting from Obighoro-Ogheye. Tijani emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated the ministry to ensure connectivity for all parts of Nigeria, including riverine areas.

Additionally, Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, announced that the Bini Riva Live cultural festival would be added to the ministry's annual calendar to attract both local and international tourists. This announcement was made during the grand finale of the Bini Riva Live festival in Obighoro, coinciding with the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III.

Dr. Godwin Ebosa, a leader in the Obighoro community, praised the government's commitment to the socioeconomic development of riverine areas.
