Fubara Appoints New SSG and Chief of Staff in Rivers

On February 26, 2026, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State appointed Dr. Dagogo S.

Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), replacing Dr. Benibo Anabraba.

Additionally, Barrister Sunni Ewul was appointed as Chief of Staff, succeeding Hon. Edison Ehi.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Onwuka Nzeshi.

The swearing-in ceremony for both appointees is scheduled to take place today at 2:00 PM in the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt. These changes come in the wake of political turmoil that began in 2023, which involved a faction in the Rivers State House of Assembly and led to the resignation of several lawmakers.

Hon. Edison Ehi, who served as a major leader in the assembly, had previously declined to move a motion for the governor's impeachment during the political crisis.
