Fubara Urges Judiciary to Confront Corruption at NBA Conference

At the 66th annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) held in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of confronting practices that weaken the administration of justice. He stated that the judiciary's effectiveness in sustaining democracy is compromised by technicalities, rigid procedures, and undue delays.

Fubara expressed concern over "brazen corruption" and "unjust precedents," which he believes damage the reputation of both the judiciary and the bar. He articulated that courts are essential for protecting citizens' rights and should not merely serve as venues for dispute resolution.

Fubara urged judges to recognize the broader implications of their decisions and avoid conforming to established positions that could undermine justice. He called for the legal system to adapt to contemporary realities, warning against procedural barriers and institutional weaknesses that obstruct justice.
