Fubara Urges Judges to Consider Impact on Society

On Monday, during the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara called on judges to consider the overall impact of their judgments on the polity. He emphasized that law and order are closely linked to the quality of justice delivered by the courts.

Fubara stated that judges must ensure that truth prevails, regardless of the parties' status or affiliations. He criticized the existing impediments to justice, including political manipulation and corruption, which he said damage the reputation of the judiciary.

Fubara asserted that the judiciary is vital for upholding democracy, good governance, and economic development, serving as a refuge for citizens seeking justice and accountability. He concluded that public confidence in the judiciary will improve when judges demonstrate legal knowledge, reasoning, and integrity, holding both the government and citizens accountable to the law.
