Fubara Assures Completion of Rivers Infrastructure Projects

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara assured residents on Friday that ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly the airport road bypass in Port Harcourt, will be completed despite recent political developments. During an inspection of the project, Fubara stated that the road project has reached 65% completion and promised that it would be finished by October 2026.

He emphasized the importance of the bypass in providing an alternative route to the Port Harcourt International Airport, especially during protests or disputes that obstruct movement along the main airport road. Fubara expressed dissatisfaction with actions that block access to the airport, stating they negatively impact the state's economic activities.

The governor also took the opportunity to address the political climate in Rivers State, mentioning the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as the unopposed governorship candidate for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, following the withdrawal of businessman Tony Cole from the primaries.
