Fubara Signs N1.85trn 2026 Budget in Rivers State

On Thursday, the Rivers State House of Assembly passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1.85 trillion, referred to as the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.” Governor Fubara signed the budget into law during a ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt. He expressed gratitude to God, stakeholders, and the Assembly for their efforts in the budget's passage.

Fubara praised the Assembly members for their diligence and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the “Rivers First” initiative, emphasizing that the budget would focus on the welfare of the people. He specifically acknowledged Chief Nyesom Wike, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for facilitating the process.

Majority Leader Hon. Major Jack stated that the budget was passed with the intention of benefiting the people of Rivers State. Speaker Rt Hon. Martin Amaewhule commended the budget's provisions, indicating the Fubara administration's readiness to deliver democratic dividends.

The budget represents a 24.5% increase over the revised 2025 financial estimates.
