APC's Popularity Rises in Rivers State After Fubara's Defection Boosts Delegate Congress Primaries

Siminalayi Fubara's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has significantly bolstered the party's standing, as confirmed by Congress officials. The APC successfully concluded delegate congress primaries in Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II in preparation for the February 21 House of Assembly bye-elections.

Shehu Dang, the Chairman of the Congress Primary Committee for Ahoada East State Constituency II, praised Fubara's entry into the APC, highlighting the unity it has brought to the party. Smart Iheanazor and Ayoala Peter, who chaired the delegate congress primaries in Ahoada East and Khana respectively, commended the growing trust in Governor Fubara's leadership.

The delegate selection process involved a voicing vote by five delegates per ward, overseen by officials from INEC, DSS, and the Nigeria Police Force, ensuring transparency. The bye-elections were necessitated by the resignation of Edison Ehi, who became the Chief of Staff to Governor Fubara, and the passing of Dinebari Loolo in September 2023.
