Fulani Herdsmen Attack Bus, Killing Six in Plateau State

On Sunday night, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a commercial bus at Dungus Kuru T-junction in Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of six passengers, comprising five males and one female. Two additional passengers sustained gunshot injuries.

Security expert Zagazola Makama reported the incident on his official X handle, noting that it occurred less than 24 hours after three young Fulani herders were killed in Alohom community, Mangu Local Government Area, where 36 cattle were also shot dead. Military sources indicated that troops from Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a distress call regarding the attack on the bus, but the assailants had fled before their arrival.

The injured were evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and ongoing operations were initiated to track the attackers. The recent violence has heightened fears of retaliatory attacks in the region, although there is no confirmation that the Dungus Kuru attack was a direct response to the earlier killings.
