Gunmen Kill Nine in Plateau State Bus Attack

On September 15, 2026, a commercial bus was attacked by gunmen at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including the driver. The lone survivor, Nasiru Garba, who was the bus conductor, recounted that the bus had stopped to drop off five passengers when the attack occurred.

As the driver returned to the bus, the attackers opened fire on both the passengers who had alighted and those still inside. Garba managed to escape death by hiding inside the vehicle.

He reported that the attackers stole money and his phone but did not discover him. Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders, confirmed the attack, stating it happened around 9:40 PM and involved several other injuries.

The Plateau State Government condemned the attacks, which included additional incidents in Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas, resulting in further casualties.
