New Zealand Visa Waiver for Mauritius and Seychelles Citizens

The New Zealand government has revealed that only citizens from two African countries, Mauritius and Seychelles, qualify for its visa waiver programme, allowing them to enter New Zealand without a traditional visa. According to the government website, these travellers must obtain a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) prior to departure.

This electronic authorization is linked to the traveller's passport and does not manifest as a physical stamp or sticker. While Mauritian and Seychellois passport holders can bypass the full visa application process, they are still subject to other travel requirements.

The NZeTA is designed to streamline entry for travellers from trusted partner countries while enabling New Zealand immigration authorities to screen arrivals in advance. For the remainder of African nations, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt, standard visa applications through New Zealand's immigration channels remain the only option for visiting the country.
