UK Allows ETA Entry for Citizens of Mauritius, Seychelles

The United Kingdom has announced that only two African countries, Mauritius and Seychelles, are eligible for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK, allowing their citizens to bypass the traditional visa application process. This decision affects the 54 nations on the African continent, as citizens from Mauritius and Seychelles can apply for an ETA, which is a pre-travel permission linked digitally to their passports.

This process is generally faster and more straightforward than the conventional visa application, which involves submitting documents, paying higher fees, and often attending in-person appointments. Citizens from other African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt, are not included in this list and must continue to apply for a UK visa through the traditional route.

The inclusion of Mauritius and Seychelles reflects their existing visa-free or visa-on-arrival relationships with the UK, indicating a new framework for managing access to the country.
