Türkiye Allows Entry with Expired Passports for 8 Nations

The Turkish government has announced a new policy allowing citizens from eight countries to enter Türkiye using expired passports. The countries included in this arrangement are Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Bulgaria.

This policy is confirmed on the Turkish government's official website, indicating it is a formal measure rather than a temporary one. Notably, seven of these countries are European Union member states, with Switzerland being the only non-EU country on the list.

Bulgaria, which joined the EU's Schengen Area in January 2024, is also part of this arrangement. This policy offers significant flexibility for travelers from these nations, particularly for those whose passports have recently expired or who have not yet renewed them.

In contrast, travelers from all other countries, including those from Asia and the Americas, are required to present valid travel documents to enter Türkiye.
