INEC Unveils 1,303 Candidates for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published a list of 1,303 candidates for the 109 senatorial seats and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The candidates are sponsored by 21 political parties, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) fielding 109 candidates, followed by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 108, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) with 94 candidates.

Notable candidates include Godswill Akpabio, the incumbent Senate president; Barau Jibrin, the deputy Senate president; and Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State. Other prominent figures include Abdulaziz Yari, Ahmed Lawan, Seriake Dickson, Aliyu Wamakko, and Orji Kalu.

The list also features Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Stella Oduah, and Hope Uzodimma, the current governor of Imo State. The presidential and National Assembly elections are set for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
