LASTMA Lists Traffic Offences and Penalties in Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has released a detailed list of traffic offences along with their respective fines and penalties for motorists in Lagos. The penalties, available on LASTMA's official website, cover a range of violations including illegal parking, traffic light violations, dangerous driving, and documentation offences.

Fines vary, with disobeying traffic control personnel attracting a penalty of ₦20,000, while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs incurs a fine of ₦100,000. Other notable fines include ₦50,000 for abandoning a vehicle on the highway and ₦25,000 for highway obstruction.

LASTMA also indicated that repeat offenders may face increased fines and additional enforcement measures such as vehicle impoundment and towing charges. Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic regulations and comply with instructions from traffic management officials to avoid penalties.
