Lagos Ministry of Transportation Warns Against Traffic Scam

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has alerted motorists and the public about fraudulent text messages and malicious links that falsely claim recipients have committed traffic offences. These messages are designed to deceive individuals and steal sensitive personal and banking information.

In an advisory posted on its X handle, the ministry urged the public not to click on unverified links, share personal information, or make payments through third-party platforms. It clarified that Lagos State does not offer discounts on traffic penalties and that all official fines are strictly fixed.

Motorists are advised to verify the authenticity of traffic tickets and check their vehicle status only through the state’s approved platforms, specifically payvis.ng and tms.lagosstate.gov.ng. The ministry's warning comes amid rising concerns over fraudulent online platforms targeting motorists with fake traffic offence notices and payment requests.
