Nigeria Among 114 Countries Requiring UK Visit Visas

As of July 1, 2026, citizens of Nigeria will need to obtain visas for visits to the United Kingdom lasting less than six months. This requirement is part of an update to the immigration rules released by the UK Home Office.

The updated guidance specifies that individuals from 114 countries, including Nigeria, must secure entry clearance to travel to the UK unless they qualify for specific exemptions. The immigration rules also clarify that stateless individuals and those with travel documents from their nation must obtain entry clearance unless their documents are issued by the United Kingdom.

Additionally, the update notes limitations on exemptions for citizens of the People's Republic of China and Taiwan.
