UK Reaffirms Visa Requirement for Nigerians and Others

The UK has reaffirmed its visa requirement for Nigerian citizens and over 100 other countries for short-duration visits, specifically those lasting less than six months. This update to the UK immigration rules was released over the weekend and includes a list of countries classified as visa nations.

Citizens from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, India, Pakistan, and Russia are among those required to obtain entry clearance before traveling to the UK. The updated guidance also extends the visa requirement to stateless individuals traveling on documents issued by nations other than the UK.

However, the rules released on July 1 indicated limited exemptions for certain nations, including the People's Republic of China and Taiwan. Nigerians planning tourism, family visits, or short business engagements must continue to secure the appropriate UK visa before departure.

The list of affected countries includes numerous African, Asian, European, and Latin American nations.
