Nigerian Passport Holders Enjoy Access to 44 Countries

The July 2026 Henley Passport Index ranks Nigeria's passport 90th globally, a drop from the 89th position in April 2026. Despite this decline, Nigerian passport holders can access 44 destinations without obtaining a visa prior to travel.

This includes visa-free entry, visas on arrival, or electronic visas (e-visas), depending on the specific entry requirements of each destination. The visa-free score for Nigeria has remained stable at 44, although the country has improved its ranking from 94th in 2025 and 103rd in 2021.

The Henley Passport Index evaluates 199 passports based on the number of destinations accessible without prior visa arrangements, utilizing data from the International Air Transport Association. Travellers are advised to verify the latest immigration requirements with relevant authorities before planning their trips.
