Key Nigerian Ministers Dismissed Since 1999

Since the return to democratic governance in Nigeria in 1999, the Fourth Republic has experienced significant cabinet changes, with various presidents dismissing or pressuring ministers to resign. Notable removals include Hussaini Akwanga, who was sacked by President Olusegun Obasanjo in December 2003 amid allegations related to a national identity card contract with SAGEM.

In March 2005, Obasanjo dismissed Education Minister Fabian Osuji following allegations of bribery linked to the ministry's budget. Shortly after, Alice Mobolaji Osomo was removed due to controversies over the allocation of Federal Government properties in Lagos.

Under President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Health Minister Professor Adenike Grange and Minister of State for Health Gabriel Aduku resigned in March 2008 amid investigations into unspent budget funds. Goodluck Jonathan's administration also saw the dismissal of Attorney-General Michael Aondoakaa in 2010.
