Keyamo Condemns Obi's Blockade in Benue State

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Benue State. The incident occurred when a group of youths prevented Obi from proceeding to Yelwata in the Guma Local Government Area, where he intended to visit families affected by a deadly attack in June 2025 that resulted in over 100 deaths.

Keyamo called for an end to partisan narratives in media reporting of political confrontations. He stated that politicians should be allowed to campaign freely without intimidation.

The NDC alleged that the blockade was orchestrated by hired thugs, while the Benue State Government denied involvement and claimed ignorance of Obi's visit. The police confirmed they were aware of Obi's movement and had provided security, but the reason for the blockade remains under investigation.

Keyamo emphasized that such actions should not be part of democracy, regardless of the political affiliations involved.
