Rivers APC Clears 33 Assembly Aspirants, Disqualifies 65

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed its screening exercise for assembly aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, clearing 33 candidates while disqualifying 65 others. The exercise concluded on May 10, 2026, with a report obtained on May 11, 2026.

The disqualified individuals included notable names such as Timothi Orubibanugha and Chime Eguma Ezebulik, among others. Reasons for disqualification ranged from failure to meet financial obligations as party members, attempts at inducement or bribery, submission of unsworn affidavits, and issues with voter card and party membership documentation.

The screening was conducted under the supervision of the party's officials and security personnel, ensuring a smooth process. The exercise was led by Deputy Speaker Duml Maol, who confirmed that 29 incumbent members participated in the APC primary assembly poll.
