APC Screens 98 Aspirants for Rivers Assembly Amid Security

On Saturday, October 20, heavy security was observed at the APC secretariat located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt during the screening of 98 aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly. Among those screened was the current Speaker, Martin Amaewhula, and former faction speaker Victor Omo Jumbo, who is a loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Chibik Ikenga, the APC state spokesperson, confirmed the number of aspirants, which included candidates from 32 constituencies in the state. The screening process was chaired by Ajibola Muraina, who assured that the exercise would be transparent and expressed optimism about the APC's popularity in Rivers State.

He emphasized that the party aims to ensure that all candidates meet the qualifications outlined in the party's constitution and the amended Electoral Act. Muraina also encouraged aspirants to remain patient and supportive of the party's eventual candidate, highlighting the importance of unity in the upcoming elections.
