Fayose Observes Osun Election, Critiques Violence

Ayo Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, explained his presence in Osogbo during the Osun State governorship election held on August 15. He aimed to understand the election dynamics by engaging with residents and observing their sentiments.

Fayose stated, “I was in Osogbo throughout the election,” emphasizing the importance of gaining experience from being part of the electoral process. He visited various communities, including Ilesa, to gather insights on voter opinions.

Fayose noted that the election outcome was close, with a margin of 66,000 votes favoring Governor Ademola Adeleke, largely due to strong support from Ede, the Adeleke family’s stronghold. He criticized the violence and desperation that occurred towards the end of the election, stating that such incidents were unnecessary.

Fayose urged that the election results should be analyzed beyond just winners and losers, highlighting the voting patterns across the state.
