Ogunwole Declares Adeleke Winner of Osun Governorship Election

On Sunday, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, announced Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election at the state collation centre around 7:24 am. Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Following the presentation and signing of results by agents of the participating political parties, Ogunwole declared Adeleke elected for another four-year term, stating, “That Ademola Nurudeen-Jackson Adeleke, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the August 15 Governorship Election and returned elected.” Ogunwole, born on July 23, 1967, in Ibadan, Oyo State, has had a distinguished academic career and has held various positions, including Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University from 2018 to 2023 and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at FUOYE prior to his current role.
