PEG Urges Federal Funding Boost for FUOYE Reforms

The Partnership for Ethical Governance (PEG) has called for increased federal funding for the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), emphasizing the need for investment in infrastructure, research, digital technology, and energy to support ongoing reforms. PEG commended Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joshua Ogunwole for decisive actions to enhance governance and enforce a zero-tolerance policy against extortion and unethical practices.

This assessment, presented by Olawole Oladapo in Ado-Ekiti, indicated that FUOYE is undergoing a systematic process of institutional renewal since Ogunwole took office on February 11, 2026. PEG noted improvements in administrative discipline and transparency, as well as a commitment to research and digital transformation initiatives.

The university's eight-point covenant with the community was recognized as a significant step towards institutional transformation. PEG's findings counter years of negative publicity surrounding FUOYE, highlighting a positive shift in governance and public confidence.
