G100 Initiates Opposition Consultations for 2027 Elections

The G100, a coalition of political leaders and stakeholders, has begun consultations with prominent figures in Nigeria’s opposition in preparation for the 2027 general elections. A summit of opposition parties is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Abuja.

Salihu Moh. Lukman, representing G100, stated that meetings have already taken place with the leadership of six major opposition parties: African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

These engagements included national chairmen, presidential candidates, and their running mates. The consultations were initiated following G100’s Open Letter released on August 2, 2026, titled ‘Doctrine of Necessary Democratic Opposition’.

The group aims to facilitate dialogue among parties to achieve greater opposition unity, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and sacrifice for the larger interests of Nigeria. The summit will serve as a structured platform for discussions on modalities for achieving this unity.
