G100 Reschedules Opposition Summit for August 2026

The G100 has announced the rescheduling of its summit for opposition political parties, originally set to convene major presidential candidates such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Peter Obi, former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. The summit will now take place on August 31, 2026, following discussions with the six participating political parties and the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives.

This adjustment is made to allow time for further internal consultations after the National Peace Summit scheduled for August 18, which will involve key stakeholders from the participating political parties. Mallam Salisu Moh Lukman, one of the G100 leaders, stated that the group will use the intervening period to continue consultations and develop proposals for the summit.

He expressed optimism about the quality of discussions among the parties, highlighting a shared recognition of the importance of cooperation for Nigeria's democracy.
