Gambari Begins Role as Visiting Scholar at Penn University

Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, who previously served as Chief of Staff to former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has begun his role as a distinguished visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. His appointment, approved by the university's School of Arts and Sciences, is scheduled to run from January to August 2026.

Gambari will engage in academic responsibilities, including writing a memoir that reflects on his extensive career in diplomacy, governance, and public service in Nigeria. He will also contribute to advancing research projects and participate in discussions at the university.

Wale Adebanwi, the senior academic and department head at the Graduate School, is noted in connection with Gambari's appointment. Gambari is also recognized as the founder of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development, which underscores his significant contributions to international relations and diplomacy.
