Ganduje Acknowledges Sanusi as Emir of Kano After Dispute

On a Tuesday, Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, publicly recognized Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano during a ceremony that took place at the Government House in Kano. This event was significant as it marked the first time Ganduje openly acknowledged Sanusi's position since his removal in 2020.

The recognition occurred in the presence of dignitaries and guests, drawing loud applause. Following Sanusi's removal, Governor Abba Yusuf reinstated him, while Aminu Ado Bayero, appointed by Ganduje, refused to relinquish the throne.

The emirship dispute remains unresolved, with ongoing tensions in Kano and a court case pending. The situation has shifted since Governor Yusuf's defection to the People's Democratic Party, and Sanusi was allowed to hold a Sallah Durbar, unlike previous occasions when violence disrupted the event.
