Gbajabiamila Urges National Assembly to Enhance Transparency

On Tuesday, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, called on the National Assembly to deepen transparency and public trust as part of efforts to rebuild confidence in Nigeria's democratic institutions. Speaking at the 2026 National Assembly Open Week in Abuja, he emphasized the importance of legislative accountability and citizen engagement.

Gbajabiamila highlighted the need for clearer insights into the legislative process, resource allocation, and budget oversight, urging lawmakers to strengthen engagement with young people, women, persons with disabilities, civil society groups, and professional associations. He acknowledged the complexities of legislative leadership and the necessity for lawmakers to balance diverse interests while working towards national unity.

Gbajabiamila praised the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abba, and stressed the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government to deliver results for citizens.
