Akpabio Invites Nigerians to Challenge National Assembly

During the 2026 National Assembly Open Week, Senate President Godswill Akpabio invited Nigerians to actively engage with the legislative process, stating that citizens should feel free to challenge the National Assembly when they disagree. This event, held on a Tuesday, aims to allow citizens to observe proceedings and ensure that every Nigerian has a voice in governance.

Akpabio stressed that no citizen should feel insignificant or unheard. Abba Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, remarked that the Open Week should not be a mere self-congratulatory exercise but rather a commitment to accountability.

Clement Nwankwo, the Executive Director of the Policy Legal Advocacy Centre, affirmed that democracy thrives when the legislature is open to public scrutiny and engagement. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to transparency and responsiveness in governance.
