FG Warns Schools: Certify Teachers or Lose WAEC, NECO Accreditation

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to secondary schools, stating that they must employ certified teachers or risk losing accreditation for exams like WAEC and NECO. The directive, effective from March 2027, mandates that all teachers must be certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Schools with unlicensed teachers will be disqualified from serving as examination centers. This move aims to enhance the professionalism of the teaching profession and ensure quality education in both public and private secondary schools.

State governments have been urged to comply with this directive to maintain accreditation for exams.
