Team Nigeria Wins 24 Medals at 2026 Commonwealth Games

The National Sports Commission commended Team Nigeria for their impressive performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland, where they secured 24 medals: 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze. Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, expressed pride in the athletes' achievements, stating that significant resources were invested to ensure success.

He acknowledged the support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who emphasized the government's commitment to sports development and national unity. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission and Chef de Mission for Team Nigeria, praised the athletes for their determination and skill, noting that they aimed to make history.

The medals were earned across various sports, including para powerlifting, weightlifting, athletics, para athletics, and judo. Notable performances included Esther Nworgu and Folashade Oluwafemiayo winning gold in their respective categories in para powerlifting, contributing to Nigeria's overall medal tally.
