Glo Cuts International Call Rates as Nigerian Telcos Hike Tariffs: See New Destinations and Prices

Nigerian telecom operator Globacom has reduced its International Direct Dialling (IDD) rates, effective August 10, making calls to 15 international destinations more affordable for customers nationwide. The new rates include countries like the United States, United Kingdom, China, Saudi Arabia, and Cameroon.

This move is part of Globacom's strategy to provide greater value to customers and attract more subscribers to its network. The company also hinted at the rollout of a new IDD bundle in the future.

This reduction in international call rates comes at a time when other major telcos in Nigeria, such as MTN, Airtel, and 9mobile, have raised prices for calls and data due to regulatory guidelines and operational costs. Globacom's decision to lower rates could give them a competitive edge in the market, as customers are increasingly price-sensitive.
