Wike Tells Makinde to "Go Home and Rest" Amid Tensions

Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, addressed Seyi Makinde, the current Governor of Oyo State, during the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) held in Abuja. Wike's remarks included a suggestion for Makinde to "go home and rest," reflecting tensions within the party as several governors have recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike's comments came after Makinde accused the PDP of being ineffective and suggested that the party was hindering progress, particularly in relation to the upcoming 2027 presidential elections led by Bola Tinubu. Despite the criticisms, Wike indicated an openness to reconciliation within the PDP, emphasizing the need for unity as the party prepares for its national convention.
