GOC Auwalu Mahmuda Praises 12 Brigade for Rescue Efforts

Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 2 Division, Nigerian Army, commended the troops of 12 Brigade for their operational achievements, particularly the rescue of 21 abducted persons in Kogi State. This commendation occurred during his maiden operational tour from September 2 to 4, 2026, where he visited Chari Maigumeri Barracks in Lokoja.

The GOC was received by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, the Commander of 12 Brigade, and was briefed on the security situation and operational activities in the area. Mahmuda praised the troops for their efforts in rescuing 15 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and six civilians, contributing to a significant reduction in criminal activities in Kogi State.

He stressed the strategic importance of the state and urged the troops to maintain their operational tempo. During his visit to the headquarters of 21 Battalion in Ayingba, he commended the troops' resilience and dedication, emphasizing discipline as essential to military operations and warning against indiscipline.
