Gombe Governor Swears In 19 Permanent Secretaries, Plans Recruitment

On Thursday, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State swore in 19 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, increasing the total number appointed during his administration to 55 over the last seven years. The governor announced plans for fresh recruitment into the state civil service to fill manpower gaps before the end of his tenure in May 2027.

He emphasized that the appointments were based on competence, merit, and fair representation from the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe. Notably, two of the new Permanent Secretaries were selected from outside the traditional civil service, one from the Federal Civil Service and another from academia.

Yahaya urged the new appointees to view their roles as a responsibility to the people and warned against corruption and indiscipline. He also mentioned that a detailed assessment of manpower needs would be conducted to identify vacancies and determine the number of workers required before the recruitment process begins.
