Gombe gov signs bill establishing 13 LCDAs

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has signed a bill establishing 13 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state, in addition to the existing 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs). The creation of these LCDAs is seen as a bold constitutional reform aimed at correcting structural imbalances and expanding governance to ensure equitable service delivery.

The Governor emphasized that this move is in line with the 1999 Constitution and will help promote security, welfare, and democratic participation. He directed the new LCDAs to focus on security, basic education, primary healthcare, and agriculture, with a timeline for delivering measurable results.

A Transition Technical Committee will oversee the operationalization of the LCDAs, with plans for future elections. The creation of these LCDAs is part of a larger effort to deepen grassroots development and enhance service delivery in Gombe State.
