ADC Gombe Faction Disowns Viral Convention Video

The Gombe-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Nafiu Bala, publicly disowned a viral video that purportedly depicted an empty venue for a national convention in Abuja. The video circulated widely on social media, suggesting a lack of legitimacy within the party's leadership.

Bala Kumo, the Chief of Staff to the national chairman, clarified that the Gombe-led faction neither announced nor sanctioned any electoral convention, labeling the video as a product of political propaganda from opponents. This statement comes amid ongoing legal battles concerning the party's leadership, which have intensified factional divisions ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

Kumo emphasized the faction's commitment to due process and the rule of law, stating that they await the outcome of a pending case in the Federal High Court, with a hearing scheduled for April 22, 2026. The faction remains optimistic that the judiciary will affirm their position, which could reshape the ADC's internal structure in preparation for future elections.
