Gombe PDP Demands Probe into Assembly Complex Collapse

The Gombe State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded a thorough investigation into the collapse of a section of the assembly complex, which led to one confirmed death and seven injuries. In a statement issued by the party's Public Relations Office, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku expressed serious concerns regarding compliance with approved engineering standards and quality control measures at the construction site.

The PDP has called on relevant regulatory authorities and professional engineering bodies to suspend construction activities at the site pending a comprehensive and independent investigation into the causes of the collapse. The investigation should determine if there was a failure in project planning, supervision, and adherence to established engineering safety standards.

The PDP also extended condolences to the victims' families and urged the Gombe State government to take full responsibility for the welfare of affected workers, ensuring they receive adequate medical care and financial assistance. Gombe State Government has ordered an immediate investigation, with Danladi Adamu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, directing relevant agencies to commence safety accountability procedures.
