PDP Criticizes Gombe LG Elections for Lack of Fairness

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State condemned the recently concluded local government elections, labeling the process a "mockery of democracy." The party's statement, issued by its Public Relations Officer Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, claimed that the elections, conducted by the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), lacked transparency and failed to provide a level playing field for opposition parties. The PDP noted that it boycotted the elections due to widespread irregularities, describing the electoral process as akin to a "child's play." The party accused the APC-led government of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of undermining democratic principles, particularly through the demolition of structures, which they argued created tension among residents.

The PDP also criticized the expulsion of the Gombawa Motor Park and the Dankwambo Mega Motor Park, alleging that these actions were politically motivated and violated citizens' rights to express political views freely. The party called for the state government to uphold democratic values and respect constitutional rights.
