Gombe State Rescues 59 Trafficked Children, Cracks Down on Criminal Activities

Gombe State has rescued 59 trafficked children in the past eight months following the implementation of new transport policies at central motor parks. The Director-General of Gombe Line Transport Service, Dr.

Sani Sabo, revealed the success of the surveillance system at the Ibrahim Dankwambo Mega Park in intercepting criminal activities, including child trafficking and drug movements. The state government's collaboration with security agencies like NDLEA, NAPTIP, and NSCDC has led to increased vigilance and arrests.

The new manifest system and centralized motor park aim to curb security loopholes and regulate transport operations, making it harder for illegal activities to go unnoticed. Some residents have expressed concerns about increased transport fares due to the centralization.
