Abdul Abdulmalik Commits to Nigeria's Super Eagles

Abdul Abdulmalik, a 23-year-old forward born in England, has declared his intention to represent Nigeria at the senior international level, providing a significant boost to the Super Eagles ahead of future squad selections. He currently plays for Boreham Wood in the National League after being released by Millwall in 2024, where he had previously represented England at the under-17 level.

During his time at Millwall, he won back-to-back Professional Development League South titles with the Under-21s in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. In the 2025/26 season, Abdulmalik had a standout campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists, which helped Boreham Wood reach the play-off final at Wembley.

His impressive form has attracted attention from Swedish top-flight club Djurgarden, who have made two bids for him, the latest reaching £1 million. Abdulmalik believes he has the qualities to be compared to former Nigeria captain Jay-Jay Okocha but recognizes the need to move to a higher tier of professional football to earn a senior Nigeria call-up.
