Google to Invest $15.1 Billion in Finland AI Infrastructure

Google has announced a significant investment of €13 billion, equivalent to about $15.1 billion, to enhance its artificial intelligence infrastructure in Finland. The company intends to construct three new data centers in northern Finland, leveraging the region's cold climate to minimize energy consumption for cooling its servers.

Additionally, Google has entered into an agreement to purchase up to half of the output from one of Finland’s nuclear power plants for a duration of 22 years. This investment is aimed at expanding Google’s AI infrastructure across Europe and will support various services, including Gemini, Search, Maps, and YouTube.

Google has characterized this initiative as its largest investment in Europe to date.
