Google Unveils $9m Fund and AI Tools for African Students

Google has announced a $9 million fund for Africa, along with cable connectivity hubs and AI tools for students. The tech giant aims to empower the next generation in Africa by providing free subscriptions to the Google AI Pro plan for college students aged 18 and above across the continent.

The initiative includes building strategic subsea cable connectivity hubs in the north, south, east, and west regions of Africa to enhance digital connectivity within the continent. Google also plans to invest $9 million in African university research institutions in the coming year.

This commitment underscores Google's focus on fostering innovation, learning, and skills development in Africa's digital economy. Alex Okosi, Google's managing director for Africa, highlighted the immense potential of Africa's digital economy driven by talent and innovation.
