Aiyedatiwa Denies Role in Ondo APC Secretariat Attack

Governor Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has denied allegations of orchestrating an attack on the Ondo APC Secretariat, which occurred during a stakeholders' meeting ahead of the party's ward congress. The attack involved hoodlums who disrupted the meeting, resulting in party leaders being beaten and their mobile phones seized, forcing them to flee.

Adetimehin, the APC caretaker chairman in Ondo State, accused Ademola Odudu, the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of leading the assault on the governor's orders. Aiyedatiwa dismissed these claims as unfounded, asserting his non-involvement in the violence.

The meeting was initially scheduled for 11 AM but was rescheduled to 2 PM to accommodate a 50th birthday celebration of a cabinet member. Aiyedatiwa emphasized that stakeholders' meetings are typically held in the presence of the Speaker and Deputy Governor, suggesting that the disruption was unusual and indicative of rival factions within the party.
