Benue Commissioner Iorpev to Address Agency Decay

Solomon Iorpev, the Benue State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, has committed to bringing attention to the deteriorating conditions in various parastatals and agencies under his ministry. During a fact-finding mission that included visits to the State Printing House, State Radio, State Library, State Television Station, and the Arts Council, Iorpev noted significant challenges such as infrastructure decay, manpower shortages, and poor funding.

He intends to compile a report for Governor Hyacinth Alia, urging immediate action to address these issues before the end of Alia's administration in eight years. Staff members have expressed concerns over inadequate work tools and materials, and the State Radio is currently off-air due to electricity issues.

The Benue State Library, while structurally sound, has suffered from neglect, and the Arts Council has seen projects abandoned for over 40 years. The Printing House is filled with non-functional equipment and deteriorating facilities, while the state-owned newspaper, ‘The Voice’, has been partially unavailable due to a lack of resources.
