Governor Alia Urges New Commissioners to Serve Public Interest

On Friday, during the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State Governor Alia charged the newly inaugurated commissioners to prioritize the public interest and avoid using their offices for personal gain or the benefit of friends and interest groups. He described their appointments as a solemn trust aimed at contributing to the state's development, stability, and prosperity.

Governor Alia stressed the importance of competence, integrity, fairness, accountability, and diligence from government officials, urging them to be responsive to the people's concerns. He highlighted the necessity for collaboration among ministries, departments, and agencies, warning against operating in silos.

The Governor encouraged the commissioners to engage with communities and stakeholders to understand local realities rather than relying solely on official reports. He also called for the adoption of innovation and modern management approaches to enhance governance.

The newly sworn-in commissioners include Solomon Iorpev, Mrs Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon Kuma Aii Yenge, Hon Roy Terna, Angwa Monday, Hon Nick Eworo, and Amo Ankwa II.
