Kebbi Governor Idris Dissolves Electoral Commission Board

Dr. Nasir Idris, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission, as stated in a letter issued by the Director of the Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, and signed by Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government. This dissolution is effective from September 18, 2026, following the expiration of the board's tenure.

The statement clarified that two other members of the commission, whose tenures have not yet expired, will continue in their roles until the commission is reconstituted. Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the outgoing members for their service and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to safeguarding the independence and integrity of the commission, stating, “I am assuring you of the renewed determination of this administration to protect the independent status of the Commission.”.
