Gov Idris Investigates Kebbi Quranic School Fire Incident

Governor Idris is probing a fire incident that occurred at a Quranic school in Kebbi on Saturday. The fire affected several hostels and classrooms within the school premises.

The governor, who noticed thick smoke while breaking his Ramadan fast, instructed his convoy to stop and ascertain the source of the smoke. A total of 140 students were safely moved from the premises.

The fire service responded promptly to contain the raging fire, which was intensified by a gas cylinder in a student room. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately three to four hours before bringing it under control.

Governor Idris expressed his condolences regarding the unfortunate incident and emphasized the need for an investigative committee to thoroughly examine the root cause of the fire and recommend appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence in state schools.
